With music streaming services in abundance and lesser-known artists getting more and more opportunities for their music to be heard, it is easy to miss everything that is released.
Don't feel overwhelmed, we’ve got you covered. Every Saturday we are featuring our round-up of some of the week’s best new tracks as well as one or two songs that might not be new this week, but we cannot stop playing.
This is The Pop Five:
Orville Peck and Shania Twain — “Legends Never Die”
Orville Peck has shared a new song with crossover country icon Shania Twain. “Legends Never Die” appears on Peck’s new Show Pony EP.
The video finds the two Canadians dropping by a drive-in theater for an impromptu performance under the stairs and features appearances from director John Waters and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jaida Essence Hall.
Christina Aguilera — “Loyal Brave True”
The just-released gorgeous music video for the emotive ballad was directed by Niki Caro, director of Mulan, and foregoes scenes, instead spotlighting Aguilera’s performance.
“Should I ask myself in the water / What a warrior would do? / Tell me, underneath my armor / Am I loyal, brave and true?” Aguilera sings in “Loyal Brave True.”
Dua Lipa featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott — “Levitating” Remix
The already catchy song is now somehow even more catchy thanks to this on point remix with guest vocals from an on-point Madonna and always solid Missy Elliott.
Miley Cyrus — “Midnight Sky”
The disco-tinged song is a welcome comeback song, of which her unique vocals are featured in her new self-directed music video.
Future Islands — “Thrill”
This atmospheric ballad had me hooked within the first few seconds. Singer Sam Herring vocals are some of the most unique I've heard in some time.
